Reflexology FAQs
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to the reflex points of your feet, hands or face in order to bring about a state of deep relaxation, stimulate your body's own healing processes and help you return to a state of balance and wellbeing.

These reflex points correspond to various parts, organs and glands of your body, having an effect on their function. Reflexology aims to increase your body's circulation, open up neural pathways and strengthen your immune system.

Reflexology has been traced back to the ancient civilisations of Egypt, India and China and is a commonly practised therapy in the Eastern cultures. It is becoming more popular in the Western cultures as its therapeutic effects on people’s wellbeing are experienced and shared.

What happens during a treatment?

A medical and lifestyle history will be taken before your first treatment, which is strictly confidential and will not be shared. After your consultation, I will ask you to remove your socks and recline back in a specialist chair that is perfectly designed for a reflexology treatment. I will apply gentle pressure to the reflex points on your feet and lower legs for the duration of the treatment.

What happens after a treatment?

After your treatment, I will share with you the reflex points I find to be most sensitive during the treatment. I will offer some holistic aftercare advice based on both the findings and your medical and lifestyle history, in order for you to make relevant changes that will improve your overall health.

How can Reflexology help me?

A reflexologist will not claim to cure, diagnose or treat specific health conditions. However reflexology is commonly reported for its healing effects and is becoming increasingly accepted in the medical community as a therapy that can complement pharmaceutical treatments.

Reflexology is commonly used to manage the symptoms associated with:

Joint pain, including back pain
Headaches
Digestive difficulties, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Menopause
Respiratory difficulties, including asthma
Period pain & PMS
Anxiety, depression and stress
Pregnancy

What are the benefits of Reflexology?

The benefits of reflexology are like any complementary treatment - they have a cumulative effect. The more regularly you receive a treatment, the quicker your body will respond and reap the benefits.

The most commonly reported benefits after a reflexology treatment include:

Feelings of deep relaxation
Improved circulation
Stress relief
Increased energy
Stronger immune system
Increased efficiency of toxin removal
Faster recovery from injury and illness
Improved mental clarity
